Justus Köhncke - Erinnerung Der Spiralen

Alumni from the "Kompakt' School are known for referencing 80s & 70s pop and krautrock experimentation, but it seems seems Köhncke has deliberately sought the associated nostalgia and whacked it up to eleven for this re-issue of his seminal vinyl only debut. Now 12 years on we are pleased to be giving his 1999 debut its first ever full release.

Ecce - December Somewhere

Several years ago, guitarist Nicholas Lisher bought a second hand Roland Juno 6 Synthesizer for £50. The plan was to add texture to his simple home recorded guitar-based ambient music, but after countless late nights adjusting each slider he found he could not only emulate countless techno records, but also create a dynamic, enveloping sound that was the missing piece to the shoegaze/indie rock band that was playing in his head. He tried and failed a few times to play this sound in other bands, before deciding that Ecce had to break out of his cranium. Pinching Canadian multi-instrumentalist Tim Adams completed the Ecce recording puzzle. Last year, An EP on Tirk sister label August Day gave a taster of what was to come, before Nicholas hid away in 2009 to write Ecce's debut album, 'December Somewhere'.

Ecce - Control EP

Ecce is the recording pseudonym of london-based musician and machinist Nicholas Lisher. After his music caught the ear of ex-Cure keyboardist Roger O'Donnell, a couple of instrumental Ecce tracks were released on O'Donnell's "Nothing Concrete" 99x/10 label sampler. New tracks followed, as did live dates across London, and Nicholas' songwriting began to combine his earthy vocals with the synth and guitar sounds, finding a new middle ground between shoegaze-inspired rock and the robotic elements of electronica and krautrock.

Archangel - How To Lose Your Best Friend

Archangel are a brilliant new band. That's not strictly true. They're not really a band. But you can keep the bit about "brilliant". Archangel is the brainchild of Nick Webber, a young man from west London. Archangel crafts magnificently overwrought and dramatically fashioned songs that explore the lexicon of love with an epic sweep and neon glow that will remind you of all your favourite 70s and 80s groups while sounding utterly contemporary. Archangel – whose name comes from a scene in the film Apocalypse Now! – are where ABC meet Arcade Fire.
